He was originally a fairly OK person who just… Slowly stopped caring for other people. Being unable to die, while living longer meant constantly taking over someone else’s body. Eventually not really caring who he did that to.
It took a very long time for him to get as bad as he is, and he’s gotten some help becoming a villain along the way (see : his entire relationship with Realva. She basically laid down the groundwork to make him be a genuinely horrible person, slowly chipping away at the good things of his personality and helping him slide down a fun mindset of “well, if I’m evil, why bother trying to be nice ? It won’t stop others from thinking I’m evil, because that is the essence of my being”).
There is a good deal of self hatred that render him completely unwilling to get himself some help (he wouldn’t deserve it) and makes him try to be so much of an asshole that some kind of magical hero would finally come to kill him. He’s making his suicidal ideation everyone else’s problem.
He’s fun to think about and to write :) but it gets kind of depressing at times hahaha

She’s… Hm. She’s not a horrible person if you don’t stay around her for too long and/or if you don’t have “any use” for her, I guess. She’s the kind of person with a goal and will do anything to get to it. During the Lonnean Wars it was “secure a territory for her kingdom and destroy anything standing between her and this”, which is when she met Cenaldir (= the Emperor) and started using him as a weapon, thus fucking him up BADLY. But she’s also just… like that. People are tools to her.

The thing with all of this is that… It’s all background noise. It’s barely going to be brushed upon in Break of Dawn, because he’s not the Big Bad - in fact, he’s one of the protagonists eventually.
I do have smaller projects revolving around him and how he became fucking awful, but they’re all on the backburner until I can finish dealing with Hélianthe and Atropa, LOL
